"We decided to add on a master bedroom, bath, laundry
and exercise room totaling 850 sq. ft. and remodel 300 sq.
ft. to create a kitchen greatroom. SCHIRS referred us to Greg
for architectural drawings. He was really terrific to work
with and we liked his ideas. He was very flexible and fulfilled
our wish that the addition match both the look and the construction
elements of our existing house. Seeing his plans unfold has
been very exciting, the house came out great, and we would
absolutely use SoCal Home Improvement again."

“I contacted SoCal Home Improvement when a co-worker said
she’d had a good experience with them. I had purchased an
older house in Studio City, which needed a new roof,
chimney, and windows. I also wanted to have some exterior
drainage work done, replace a bathroom, do some electrical
work, and spruce the house up where it needed it. I was on a
tight schedule because I needed to move in relatively
quickly. SoCal Home Improvement referred me to three
contractors and said they’d refer more if I wanted. After
meeting with all three, I picked my top choice, who turned
out to be terrific. He was responsive, helpful and reliable.
The entire job went very smoothly. It finished on schedule
and on budget, and looks great! I couldn't be more pleased.
Since then I’ve returned to SoCal Home Improvement for
referrals for other needs. I’ve hired another one of their
contractors to do a stucco repair. They've also referred me
to a craftsman for a plaster art restoration. I couldn't be
happier.
(P.S. Penny’s starting to feel like a personal friend, not
just a smart business connection.)"

“I had a rotted exterior wooden stairway to replace and
needed a structural engineer, plans, permits and a builder.
The job required demolition, foundation, masonry,
concrete-and-rebar, carpentry, stucco and plaster patching,
painting and welding. I got the help I needed through SoCal
Home Improvement. The contractor I selected gave me an
excellent price for replacing the stairway with a new steel
one and he delivered high quality work on schedule and in
budget. He always kept me informed, returned phone calls,
and maintained a positive, helpful, “can-do” attitude. The
job site was kept neat and the final product is excellent. I
couldn’t be more pleased.”

“We own an English Tudor style home (white stucco and brown
cedar trim) and before we could move forward with the
painting we wanted to do, we found we had termite activity
in some of the wood. When I mentioned this to one of my
friends, he recommended I call SoCal Home Improvement
because they could refer me to qualified (and more
importantly, quality) contractors to do the work. I was sent
3 termite inspectors and all of them were professional and
qualified. Each of them came by on a timely basis, surveyed
what work had to be done, and provided estimates. I chose
one and they did really quality work and actually had great
follow-up and great customer service. I could not have been
happier. “

“Your service is a huge GIFT to me. Up to now trying to get
a qualified person to do a professional job at my house has
been a nightmare. Every time something would go wrong, I
would become very nervous and agitated knowing that the
terrible “hunt” would have to begin all over again. But now,
all I do is dial you! Within a week I am usually meeting
with a wonderful person who is excellent at his work, and
who actually wants to do the job! I am very impressed.”

"The service found me a skilled contractor to build
a staircase. I'm very selective when it comes to quality and
who comes into my home. Eric was a great referral for me.
Also, the heating and air conditioning man they referred saved
me $5000 over the contractor I was going to use."

"I called So. Cal. Home Improvement because I needed
the hardwood floor in my family room refinished. They referred
me to a contractor who was a third generation hardwood floor
specialist and took great pride in his craft. Joe brought
me many many samples, was more patient than I could believe,
and really listened to my concerns. He worked so hard to get
me just what I wanted and the job came out great. I've already
asked him to install a new hardwood floor in my master bedroom,
bathroom and closet."

"The tile man S.C.H.I.R.S. referred did absolutely beautiful
work in my bathroom and he was easy to work with."

"I was so pleased with the heating and air conditioning
man the service referred. He's the only one I'll ever use
again."

“I called my electrician who’s been working for me for
decades and found out he’s retired. He referred me to
another electrician. That one told me I need to replace my
service panel. He gave me an estimate for $3150. I called
SoCal Home Improvement to get a 2nd opinion and they
connected me with an electrician who met with me and said my
current panel is fine and it’s safe, that everything is
tight and fitting. He said if I decide to sell or refinance
my home that I will then need to revisit a panel upgrade but
that for right now everything’s fine. I’ve been saved more
than $3000.”

"The service found me someone who was perfect for patching
my plaster. He did a great job, was nice and efficient, and
his price was very reasonable. They saved me all the time
and hassle of shopping for a contractor. It was great."

“I came home and my sliding glass door was shattered. I was
leaving on a trip at 5am the next morning and needed someone
to give me a good estimate and get the glass replaced. I was
going to be gone for a week and then home for just one day
before leaving the country for 3 weeks. I called So. Cal.
Home Improvement Referral Service and got an excellent
person who took care of this and met this very restricted
time frame. The contractor was incredibly professional and
clean. He arrived on time, was courteous and did an
excellent job at a fair price.”

“We recently noticed the smell of gas when using our
fireplace. The Gas Company inspector determined we had a
slow leak in the on/off valve. We called a well known
fireplace service company that had done good work for us
previously. After a 15 minute inspection their service
person informed us the repair would take about one day and
cost $800. Given the amount of money involved I decided to
get other bids. It was my good fortune to contact So. Cal.
Home Improvement and they referred me to a reputable service
provider for this specific concern. The company
representative arrived at the appointed time and spent about
30 minutes in the living room and under the house. When he
was done I asked how big a job he thought it would be and he
informed me he felt pretty sure he had fixed the problem by
tightening a connection. But, he said, I should ask the Gas
Company to check it again. I did just that and the Gas Co.
rep said the problem had been solved.
The capper to this story is that when I asked the contractor
what I owed him, he said that because all he had done was to
cinch up the gas line a bit, there would be no charge! How
about the travel time and the 30-minute service call? No
Charge! What can I say except I am now a big fan of
his…….not just because he didn't charge me but because of
his integrity and thorough-going knowledge as a
professional. A big 'thank you' to SoCal Home Improvement
for putting us together.”

"I used So. Cal. home improvement referral service starting
with a painter who did an excellent job in my rental unit.
I then used one of their handymen who designed, built, and
installed a fence to keep skunks out of my yard, repaired
my deck, and then did other jobs for me, too. I also used
the service for an arborist to trim and cut my trees and a
roofer who replaced my roof properly and kept my property
clean throughout the project. I have been so happy with this
service that I call no one else."

"Bill couldn't have been nicer and he did an excellent
job on my bathroom upgrade. He met me at the store and helped
me make some great decisions. He installed everything, without
leaving a spot on my designer wallpaper."

“I was preparing my condo for sale and needed my carpet
repaired. There was a hole in it near my entryway (where my
housekeeper had accidentally dripped some bleach). I had
extra carpet and figured it could be patched. The carpet guy
who came to my home first, worked hard to up-sell me. Even
though I’d explained I was selling my place and didn’t want
to spend a lot of money, that I just wanted a patch, he
insisted it would be best for me to have new carpeting
installed. He insisted ‘no’, and would not give me an
estimate because he had to consult with the experts at his
company. When I finally received his estimate it was for
stretching & patching, for $550. I was appalled. I was about
to give up, throw a rug over the area and risk what
disclosing this upon the sale of my place might mean, when I
thought of SoCal Home Improvement and called them. They
connected me with a carpeting contractor who came out the
next day and did exactly what I wanted for much much less
than I expected to pay. The hole was patched, he found
another little hole I hadn’t seen and patched that, too. It
was amazing. In a matter of minutes my whole problem was
gone.”

“I called Penny because of a broken window blind. I
apologized for calling about something so minor but my need
was responded to as if it were as big as a remodel. Then,
later, I had a problem with my main water line. I’m
particularly cautious about plumbers because I’ve heard
stories about unscrupulous ones who dig up lines needlessly.
The contractor they sent, like the first one, was respectful
of my property, walked me around and showed me everything,
explaining along the way. He asked me to watch the video
taping of the line as it was being done so I would
understand my situation and get all my questions answered.
My 3rd call to the referral service was for an inspector and
he, too, was really thorough, clean (he wore gloves), and
respectful. It’s been a win for me now 3 times in a row.
What I really like about the service is I don’t need to
worry, it’s just so easy to pick up the phone and know
whatever it is will be taken care of right, without any
stress.“
