 Southern California Home Improvement Referral Service was started by local homeowner Penny Spark.
Here’s her story…
I was remodeling my home. Two bathrooms were gutted. The master carpenter, who was building custom built-ins for an office and an entertainment center for the family room, was hard to track down because he worked on my project by fitting it in around his other jobs. Everything was beyond schedule and over budget.
I called contractors to replace the wooden fence but none of them returned my call.
The painting contractor for the outside of my house argued with me about the color of the garage door. Why did I have to argue about the color I wanted for my garage door?
Why was it so hard to find contractors who would do quality work, on time and on budget?
I was steamed enough to do something about it!
What is it everyone wants?
Contractors who are skilled, ethical, who you’re comfortable having in your home, and are proud to put their name on their work.
I decided I was going to start a service that would find contractors exactly like that.
I told my friends and business associates and everyone I knew. They said, “Great idea, wish you’d done it a long time ago.” That was in 1999 and that’s how SoCal Home Improvement was born.
I got started and the word spread. The phones starting ringing. Since then we’ve done no advertising. We didn’t have to.
Why? Because people know a good thing when they see it.
That’s my story.
